Darkness so deep, you'll wish the rest of the series was already written!

The madness turns dark as Tarik struggles to find his place in a world where things aren't as they seem, and Hayli struggles to hold on to the secrets and truths the Science Ministry tries to erase.

There is seriously so much to this book. I almost don't know where to begin...so I'm gonna reference my first review as a starting point.

The pacing: just as you think "maybe I can put this book down at the end of this chapter," you're proven wrong. There was never a good place to stop reading, the intrigue got twistier and turnier (you like that?) with every page.

The characters: I love that the characters struggle so much with what's right, and what's wrong, and what are their actual thoughts anyways? The darkness they are in seems so relatable to me, even if I haven't been in their shoes. Even�they don't know if they're good or bad, and I love that! There's also some more exploration of the secondary characters and they are important to the story.

The setting: Even more exploration of Cavnal and mentions of other countries kept me interested in the setting. The steampunk remains an interesting element and I really loved it!

In keeping with getting to know some of the secondary characters better, we also get to see some of the other magic they use and it's pretty cool and useful. Tarik has yet to completely understand his magic, and it's heartbreaking and heart-pounding and hopeful and scary and I could just go on and on.

Spending time with the skitters and the mages means we get to enjoy the Cavnish slang some more!

Repeated images and lines that are very powerful, to me at least.

Despite what they've been through, the romance between Tarik and Hayli is beautiful, frightening, and dangerous.

There's a lot of action in this book, and a lot of political players driving the events that are beyond the mages' control, including Tarik.

The alternating POV between Tarik and Hayli continues to be strong and their voices distinct, their struggles pulling at your heart-strings and tear ducts. I love when an author pulls this off so effectively, and also still gives so much insight to the other characters that we don't see the thoughts of. The writing is just absolutely beautiful and mind-bending and I hope you give it a chance, it will not disappoint!

I'm just dying over here knowing it'll probably be years before I know how the rest of the series goes!

I have a book hangover.

Talk about mind games. The author picks right up where she left with seamless finesse. I was rooting for Hayli to hang on, I was demanding that Shade hang on as well. I took this book with me to the caucuses, and I couldn't even be bothered to pay attention when they were trying to win the last dude over to one side to avoid a coin toss - you'd think I'd pay attention to that. Oh no, I was more concerned with Tarik and his drive to always put himself in danger. I also snapped at my husband to be quiet when I was 97% done with the book and you will KNOW why. And when it was over, and I emerged from the world I felt such a part of, I blinked, not quite understanding where I was or how the book couldn't be real. I have to know what happens next.

When you read one of the Madness Method books, ...

When you read one of the Madness Method books, you're right there, on the ground (or in the air ;)) with the characters; the realism is stunning. Bralick's conceptual magic is stunning, complex, and full of surprises, and makes this one of the most creative fantasy series out there. The tension between magic and science in this second book of the series is especially compelling, as are the character developments, as always.

Provides little helpfull information.

Everything in the book is plain common sense. May be helpfull for people who are single and are considering marriage. Help those who haven't thought about the finance part of their relationsip. But established couples should have figured everything in the book already.

A must read for couples!

This book provides excellent financial advice for couples, tackling issues every committed relationship will face- whether or not to get a prenuptial agreement, the pros and cons of having joint vs. separate accounts, legal, financial and emotional considerations around changing vs. not changing one's name, essential financial preparedness before starting a family, and what to do when illness or death strikes, to name a few. This book is well-written, insightful and humorous. The authors' candidly share some of their own trials and triumphs as a couple around money, which is refreshing and real. In addition to nuts-and-bolts financial information the authors give great suggestions on discussions you need to have with your partner around money and how to go about having them.

Interesting but US-centric

It is an interesting tome though I must confess that I read it after I walked the aisle, and after we bought our diamonds! Since it is US-centric in its information and guidelines, I would say to couples like us - in Europe - this provides a very handy thought structuring input provider. The guidelines are broad and with a little research one can use it for one's specific country context. The tone is friendly and the subject knowledge of the authors comes through as well as their effort to make it idiot-friendly (no offence to anyone!). I would recommend it and my husband is next in line to read my copy.

I ordered a copy of Kyle Lamb's new book: Green Eyes and Black Rifles last week. It showed up on my doorstep just in time for me to use it as my go to bed book.... Even after several hours of driving and two glasses of wine, I nearly read the whole book before drifting off. It was that engaging. This book is the most well put together data dump of current black rifle tactical shooting skills I have ever seen. I am highly impressed. Kyle Lamb, of Viking Tactics, has all of the credentials needed to write such an authoritative guide. What impresses me more is the acknowledgement he gives throughout the book to his former teammates for assisting him in laying it down on paper. I consider this a must have book for those who aspire to shoot black rifles tactically. My circle will be complete if another book on tactical pistol shooting happens to spring from Kyle and his buddies' minds into bound paper. Don't let the price (around $40.00 with shipping) frighten you off. YOU WANT THIS BOOK IN YOUR REFERENCE LIBRARY! --Frogman

Got Carbines? Buy This!

Earlier reviewers have commented on the author's grammatical mistakes.
They're right.
Some have mentioned the lack of information where the AR15/M16 is concerned.
They're right, too.

On the first aspect, the author's a Soldier, not an English teacher. Something happened to his editor and his daughter had to take over the editing. Maybe he can get these grammar issues fixed for the next edition - maybe not. As it is, there is no confusion whatsoever about what Mr. Lamb is saying, so for me, the grammar isn't an issue.

On the second, there are many books out there that cover this weapon's history in detail. Doing so in this book wasn't necessary, and had Mr. Lamb attempted to do so in this book, it would have detracted from his work.

What Mr. Lamb DOES do, is share tips and techniques that he's learned over the years, and he does it well. He leads you through equipment selection, layout, and usage. He covers practically every malfunction that a carbine is likely to suffer, and he shows you simple and fast ways to clear them. He lists drills that you can do to improve your efficiency. One of the best tips he gives is how to do a proper 'press check' in the carbine.

Earlier reviewers have commented that Mr. Lamb does not write with a 'my way or the highway' attitude, and that his book is pure 'meat and potatoes' information. Those guys are 100% spot-on. No fluff, no filler, just what you need.

This isn't exactly an entry-level book. As he mentions up front, he assumes that the reader already is already familiar with the care and feeding of the AR15/M16. However, if you're just getting into the world of the carbine, he does give some good pointers on features and accessories that you may/may not want in your own weapon, so this book is still a good purchase for you.

I've dealt with ARs for over 20 years, taken classes, etc. and I can tell you that this book is one of the most solid purchases that I've made book-wise.

Bottom line: If you want to further your education in combat weaponcraft, buy this book.

No wasted space, just tons of great info

This is a great book about training, equipment and implementation of the weapons systems written from an operators perspective. It is geared towards the person with a good thorough understanding of the weapon systems and tactics. You don't need to be a Special Forces soldier or Navy SEAL to make use of this book, but you need a good grounding in the fundamentals to get maximum benefit from it.

This book is written by a retired Special Forces operator and much of the terminology will be familiar to those with a military background. While the armed citizen will find a ton of useful information in this book, it seems heavily slanted towards military style operations and all out gun fights. This may be more useful for the typical military or police user but the amount of information means anyone who may go into harms way will find parts useful.

I don't want to sound as if there are prerequisites for this book, I think that anyone who picks it up will find a lot of useful information. There are tons of tips and trick to be picked up. The information isn't presents in a 'my way or the highway manner' but from the perspective of 'here are some things that work for me'. This manner of presenting data appeals very much to me because there are always more than one way to do something. One way isn't always going to be the best way and many people have systems that work. There is a great deal of data in the book and it is well worth the price of entry.

Priceless piece of work

It's important to realize that Kyle's book is a tribute to the operators that first nurtured him in his early years, several of who very sadly lost their lives in Mogadishu. Kyle lived the book's content for over 20 years. He developed many of the techniques on his own and refined many others, and not necessarily from simple flat range static shooting or competition matches but rather while the distinctive crack of the enemies' round s passed by his head - when needed feedback was immediate. And, as Frogman said in his review, Kyle incorporated the knowledge and experience of his fellow operators learned throughout those two decades and practiced successfully in some of the most inhospitable places on earth. Even so, in a world class organization that prioritizes accurate rifle and pistol shooting above all else - and like no one else - Kyle truly has few peers. Even those of us who have had the honor of Kyle's presence and experiencing his warrior psyche first hand reference this book constantly, as do the very busy current operators that still go to work in the war on terror daily. If you carry a carbine at work or play, you need to have this book in your carry-on luggage. Hopefully, Kyle will follow this blockbuster with a sequel on the combat pistol.

Very informative read

Definitely need to read this book again, but since I am new at Canaanite customs, I had to read this together with another book about the Ugaritic texts. Started delving into pagan customs after reading about biblical Melchizedek being a Canaanite priest and about the paganism of his time. Thank you for making it easy to understand even though I need to go through it again.

Ancient History brought to life

From the first page to the last, Jack Whyte's characters and circumstances kept me enthralled. These novels are page turners as riveting as any "thriller" with a plot so complex it takes all of one's attention. The characters are brought to such a reality that I felt as though I knew them, having been completely transported back to their time. I liked and admired them. The story of the "Skystone" us utterly believable and logical and lays all the groundwork for the stories that follow.

No es el mejor libro de la serie. Para muchos es algo anti-clim�tico sobre todo porque tiene que cerrar demasiadas tramas, pero disfrute mucho los puntos de vista de Nico y Reyna que son lo mejor del libro.
